How to Sell Your Book Via Speaking interviewed by Lynn Klippel
Authors need to promote themselves and their books. To
get their books out to the public â for any effective action at all â
there will be networking, book signings, media interviews and speaking
engagements. Hopefully, lots of them. In order to be successful at the
media adventure, you â the author must master the media.
AUTHORS' SPEAKEASY
is a playful, provocative, focused three-day comprehensive event
specifically designed to catapult authors to the next level of media
mastery.
As an author you need to:
â Be comfortable, confident and clear talking about you and your book in every kind of format, in every time-frame.
â Be in charge of all media interactions
â Be in control the whole PR adventure
As the center-post of your media campaign, you need to field all
inquiries in a variety ways, in sound-bite language, long and short,
tailored for any kind of situationâŚprint, radio, TV interviews,
networking, elevator speeches, book signings, etc.
In this highly interactive 3 day workshop you will learn how to:
- Formulate your
message for all types of book-selling situations including media
interviews, book shining events and public speaking engagements
- Adapt information for short versus long interviews, and learn 'insider' tips for a successful radio or television interview
- Communicate the
core message of your book, of your authorship, of your motivation, of
its value, in a sentence or two, in 30 seconds, in a minute, in an
interview, in a networking situation, in a speech
- Translate your story into the language of the media and create a "buzz" for your book
- Block and Bridge â the
exquisite technique employed by politicians and media masters â so that
when youâre asked a question you donât want to ask, you can gently
block it and bridge it to the answer that you do want to ask.
- Develop the Dirty Dozen â the
top 12 questions that you would like to be asked in interview
situations, and especially master the Tricky Trio (what's your book
about? why did you write it?, what's in it for the reader?)
- Discover the Book Shining â an
exciting upgrade to the typically dull, staid book signings. The
Book Shining is a mini event, an outrageous happening, in which the
author âshinesâ in the eyes of the audience and creates a âshiningâ
path for the audience to buy books.
- Become a sought-after talk show guest who gets booked again and again and again
