A Message from Susan Levin

I just returned from the East Coast where I was closing down my mother's home and getting her organized in her new digs in a retirement home. It was a quite a challenge to accomplish what I managed to do in a week and I did it. I would be remiss if I did not mention my sadness and horror at what was going on in the South as I was busily working away. As I was sorting through her belongings I kept thinking about what I could do to contribute and help and the answer was revealed. My aunt and uncle are making sure that all the clothing, linens and household goods are given to the proper agencies. When I got home on Saturday I donated money to several of my favorite charities. My heart and prayers go out to all of our friends and family members who have been been touched by this horrific happening.

For the last six months I've been sharing information with you on how to get your word out. Today I have included many tips and advice from your colleagues on how to get more visibility.

We are gearing up for the Symposium in Los Angeles, Get The Word Out, Master the Massage, Master the Media, October 1 & 2. We are looking forward to meeting our friends from various parts of the country and Canada. The early bird registration fee of $397 has been extended till the end of September and at the door it will be $497. I encourage you to take a look at the program www.getthewordout.info and sign up asap.

10 Benefits Of Submitting Articles To E-zines
Scott F. Geld, http://www.MarketingBlaster.com/contact.html

  1. You, your website, and your business will become well known for the articles you provide to e-zines.
  2. You will become known as an expert on the topics you write about. This will give you and your business extra credibility which will help you compete against your competition.
  3. Your article might also be placed on the publisher's home page. If they publish each issue on their home page this will give you some extra exposure.
  4. You can obtain more exposure if there is an archive directory of articles exists on the e-zine publisher's website. It's possible people will want to view past issues before they commit to subscribing.
  5. You will receive advertising at no charge. In effect, you can use the money you make to advertise in e-zines that do not accept your articles.
  6. You might get extra income from people wanting to hire you to write other articles, books, or even ask to speak at seminars. This is a great way to multiply your income.
  7. You could allow e-zine publishers to publish your articles in their free e-books. Since people give them away, your advertising could multiply all over the internet.
  8. You will get your article published all over the web when you submit it to an e-zine publisher that has a free content directory on their web site. They'll allow their visitors to republish your article.
  9. People will begin to trust you. They are more apt to make a purchase of your products if they enjoy reading your article. You can then earn more profits.
  10. You could establish an agreement with an e-zine where they would promise to publish your article. You could offer to place an article of theirs in your e-zine and they could place yours in theirs. Both of you win in this situation.

Use the Power of Your Voice to Attract More Clients
Jeanette S Cates, PhD, The Technology Tamer, info@techtamers.com

We are speakers; therefore, it only makes sense that we have audio on our web sites. But until now, it has been complex and tedious to add audio to your site - actually, you needed a "techie" and a week. Now it only takes a phone call and a single line of code.

Audio can provide an added dimension to your site. It creates a warm atmosphere where visitors feel like they know you. And it can enhance your reputation as an expert. Here are several ways you can start using audio on your speaker site.

  1. Welcome people to your site. Toward the top of the page, add your photo or a short statement saying "Listen to a short welcome message" then a button to start the audio. Keep it brief and tightly targeted to the people you've brought to the site.
  2. Give them a sample of your presentation. You can record this sitting in your office or use a clip from a live performance. Either way, your visitors will be able to hear your style and form a closer bond with you as a presenter.
  3. Provide client testimonials. One of the most powerful techniques for using audio is to ask your clients to record a short audio testimonial. Ideally you can capture this with a tape recorder at a live event or have them call and record it on the phone. The audio testimonial, combined with a photograph of the person giving it, gives a powerful picture of who you are and why a newcomer would like your services or product.
  4. Answer questions. If you have FAQs, consider answering some of them with audio. Sometimes it's easier and faster to explain something verbally than to write the entire explanation. Plus, they'll be able to hear that golden voice again!
  5. Provide the latest information. Record a weekly update on news from your industry, then add it to your site. It gives people a reason to return to your site and gives you the status of being an up-to-date expert. You can even alert them to the newest update with a brief email message.
  6. Offer a mini course using email with audio explanations. Instead of all of the material being written, you can change the pace and put a lot of information into a short space by offering some segments via audio. This is especially effective if you want to share a short meditation or visualization exercise.
  7. Demonstrate your coaching or consulting techniques by using a short audio clip from a client call.
  8. Walk them through a process. If you have a form you want visitors to complete, use audio to walk them through the sign up. Remember to pace your remarks so they can easily complete the tasks as you're talking.

Regardless of the technique you use, you owe it to yourself and your clients to start using audio on your site. It's faster than ever and you should be taking advantage of that easy-to-use technology.

Pub Note: I've been using AudioAcrobat for almost a year and it is fabulous. Take a look at http://speakerservices.audioacrobat.com to see how it all works and you can sign up for 30 days for FREE. Here's what my clients are saying about the service:

This is the best business tool since sliced bread!! It gives business people a new and innovative way of contacting new and existing customers. As a Speaker/Consultant, this will save me time and money.
-Judith Munson, Speaker/Consultant

I am a "radio ager" and get a little overwhelmed with much of the current technology, but AudioAcrobat is so user friendly that even I am not intimidated by it. Great product/service! - Donna Daisy, Ph.D., Donna Daisy & Associates, donna@donnadaisy.com

Online PR Tools That Increase Business
Riki Trafford, http://www.1dmom.com

Everyone knows the media and public love good PR. But, does PR work its charm in the same manner online? If it's handles appropriately, good PR is even better through the Internet where a captive audience awaits its news.

In many ways, by their very nature, a website is a superb PR campaign. Since websites spread the work about your service or product and are highly visible to the public, websites make great PR tools. According to some experts, websites hold the potential to exceed traditional routes of PR. If you think about, why go online if your presence doesn't increase your ability to be noticed in a positive light and increase your bottom line?

Many PR tools online are great for attracting positive attention. Some venues that are equipped for showing your message to an interested audience and spreading your market range are as follows:

  1. Blogs and Newsgroups. You can position yourself as a guru or expert in forums that encourage worthwhile discussions on topics related to your business. Visitors will anticipate all the latest news from their source - you.
  2. Online Yellow Pages and Organizations. The public often sees what businesses belong to organizations. So find related groups and become a member. In your client's eye, your listing increases your integrity and legitimizes your capabilities. Also, make yourself easy to find by listing yourself in online directories like the Yellow Pages. Include more than your business name in these directories. Other facts to include are your website and keyword or phrases that tell about your specialties.
  3. Special Feature Articles and Press Releases. Inside publications online, you can submit releases and articles that are newsworthy. As you build a relationshipwith these publications, arrange to publish feature articles that directly relate to your business. Inside each release and article, include your web address so visitors can seek more information. If submitting to publications is too time intensive, arrange for an online PR firm or service to do it for you. For a fee, these firms will submit your material to up to fifty or more online media sources.
  4. Newsletters and E-zines. You can spread your own PR via your own e-zines, requiring visitors to subscribe before receiving relevant information about your industry, services or products. By offering short course material in the e-zines, your visitors can experience first-hand your knowledge and start building a relationship with you.

The main reason to employ PR tools is to bring business your way. Stick with PR campaigns that draw in business rather than sucking up valuable time and money. If the campaign doesn't work at first, restructure it or toss it out to pasture. Remember, not every PR is measurable financially; some PR is meant to acknowledge current relationships or increase image. Still, all PR actions online should ultimately shoot for increasing revenue.

A few other PR pointers to bear in mind when mapping out an online PR campaign are:

- Since the Internet is seen globally, use extremely clear communication.
- Only immediate information is considered newsworthy.
- Keep download time to a minimum and feedback professional since visitors expect this level of interaction.
- Even though Internet PR costs aren't as high as PR in pr
