"You gotta have a ticket to get in the Game, but once you're there, whadya gonna do?" Do you want to play? If so I am extending the $300 discount to the first five people who sign up. Tips and Advice
Here are some tips for finding speaking engagements

Hoover's
http://www.hoovers.com

Hoover's is a one-stop resource for B2B information on industry sectors, specific companies and even specific decision makers. You can locate a "decision maker" (simply enter the name in the search box, or your own, and you might be as startled as we were to discover your own contact information). You can build executive lists of key personnel in target companies, or of selected titles such as CFOs or CMOs across an industry. You can target companies in a particular industry with annual sales at a specific level. You can research and analyze millions of companies. You can search for executives who have certain association or board affiliations. You can use the "Family Tree Viewer" to research how companies fit within a corporate hierarchy, with links to parents, subsidiaries and branches that offer additional sales opportunities. You can build a mailing list on the fly that is totally customized to your needs. There are lots of new tools here to explore. Some are gratis and some are subscription based.

Trade Show Marketing TSNN

TSNN is an ancient (by online standards) trade show directory that has only gotten bigger and better over the years. If your sales lead generation efforts encompass the trade show circuit, then this is where you will find everything that you need to know about upcoming events, exhibitors, venues and more. You can search the directory in a multitude of ways. Locate specific shows within your industry and compile your own lists, or buy mailing lists for key groups such as frequent exhibitors or small business owners. You can also explore exhibition industry profiles, in which industry sectors such as medical, technology, etc. are analyzed in-depth. Or you can review directories of trade show suppliers, display companies and more to get your own show presence in shape.

How to Organize a Speech
by Marisa D'Vari
copyright Marisa D'Vari 2006 - All Rights Reserved

Many people get "stage fright" when it comes to writing a talk. The secret is to just get started!

Your first step should be to research your intended audience and discover what they hope to learn. You can do this with an email survey or a conversation with the organizer or member of the organization.

Once you know the information your audience expects to learn, organization is simple as it consists of an:

Introduction
Body
Conclusion and Call to Action.
Begin with the end in mind

Begin constructing your talk with the conclusion. Why? Your last words are really the only thing your audience will remember from your speech. Too many speakers, nervous about being on the podium, conclude their talk in a rush and run off the platform. Others make the mistake of concluding their talk and then taking questions, which leaves themselves vulnerable to a hostile or rambling question. Worse, the audience leaves with the voice of the last person to ask the question in their minds, and your call to action is long forgotten.

Try scripting a strong conclusion. When you finish the body of your presentation, briefly sum up the points you have made and tell the audience you will take questions for ten minutes, and then make your concluding points.

Create an attention-getting introduction

The purpose of the introduction is to stimulate the audience's interest for the talk to come. You must establish the timeliness and relevance of your talk to your audience in your very first sentence. Consider that each member of the audience is thinking "what's in it for me?" You must assure them as soon as possible that they will be rewarded for their careful attention with solid "how to" information.

Asking a question and for a show of hands is a good way of grabbing an audience's attention as it can provide a quick survey of an audience's concerns and forces an audience to become immediately involved.

You can also begin with a startling statistic or statement to shock an audience into paying attention. People, you may recall, are motivated by the promise of pleasure or the fear of pain, so the more emotional you can make your introduction and tap into your audience's hopes and fears, the more you will personally involve them.

Creating the body of your presentation

The body of your presentation is a single key message, divided into three sub-points. Each of the sub-points is a unit of information that serves to underscore your key message. Furthermore, each of the sub-points must be supported by a mix of facts, anecdotes, and statistics because people learn a variety of ways. Let's say a Realtor is giving a public talk about why his audience must act now and buy a house. He's surveyed his audience, knows their concerns, and can even use some of the concerns to add color as anecdotes in his talk. He is also sure of his call to action, which is to buy real estate now while interest rates are historically low. He has planned his introduction as well, which asks "How many of you are concerned if homes will continue to increase in value, or if you buy now you'll face a sliding market?"

In the body of his talk, he plans to convince his audience that the time to buy is now, and will support it with three key points:

Mortgage rates are historically low.
Over a period of thirty years, no one ever lost money on a home.
There's no "right time" to jump on the bandwagon.
The first point can be supported by facts and statistics from government sources, and an anecdote about the days in the 80's when people were paying rates of eighteen percent, intimating that mortgage rates might again go up that high.

The second point can be supported by more government statistics, along with an anecdote about a person who stretched himself to buy a home at the top of the market in 1974 has increased his investment 100% in 2004.

The third point can also include statistics, but here, near the close and call to action, what would be more effective is several anecdotes about people who got on the housing bandwagon and different times (high interest rates, lower home rates and vice versa) and still managed to come out ahead.

Confidence at the podium is a result of knowing you're addressing the questions in the hearts and minds of your audience.

In the end, it is the strength and positioning of our spine that enables us to walk into a room and project confidence. Consider the SPINE technique when it comes to your next networking event and enjoy your first taste of success.
