Is your doctor on top of the latest technology, giving you options and treatments that could save your life? In 1989, Dr. Vicki Hufnagel (now Vikki) wrote a book that offered new options for women facing hysterectomies. No More Hysterectomies topped bestseller lists and Hufnagel became a sought-after media guest on Oprah and other talk shows and was lauded for her pioneering approach to alternative treatment for fibroids and other "female problems." But according to Hufnagel, her message of female empowerment in medical situations was not only controversial, but threatening to the medical profession, and she went from being praised to persecuted by the media and her peers.

Hufnagel is now speaking out about what goes on behind the scenes in the medical profession, on the Web, and for her next book, Behind the Ivory Towers
, including the dirty little secrets your doctor and pharmacist won't tell you. Did you know that doctors and hospitals routinely "profile" patients? That doctors may own stock in the drugs they prescribe? That a medical or pharmaceutical company may be paying the rent for your doctor's office suite? Hufnagel's dynamic and controversial talk reveals facts you must have in order to make informed decisions about medical care. You'll learn how to ask the right questions and spot the signs that your physician may not be giving you the straight story. "We're told to take responsibility," says Vikki, "but you can't be a good patient if you don't understand what's going on."

Vikki's presentation is interactive and customized for your group, and she'll answer questions about every aspect of health care for women, including hormones, menopause, aging, cancers that target women, and other medical concerns. You'll leave her empowering talk with a rare glimpse behind the curtain that shields the medical ivory towers, and with newfound confidence that you know what questions to ask to make the medical decisions that are right for you.

Presentations include:

The Myth of Menopause
Everything you think you know about menopause is incorrect, and this talk exposes the common myths. Did you know that menopause now often occurs later than we expect -- in the mid to late fifties? Learn what causes menopause and how to delay it, and what actions you can take to increase your chances of a longer and healthier life.

Female Reconstructive Surgery: The Gynaecological Alternative
Explore alternatives to hysterectomy and learn the facts about tubulisation reversal. "Don't get your tubes tied," Vikki advises. "It can make you crazy!" You'll learn about surgical choices and how to make informed decisions so that you don't suffer complications like bladder and uterus prolapse surgery. "It's harder to sue now for faulty medical devices," says Vikki, "so weigh your options carefully."

What is "Informed Consent"? Health-Care Litigation for Lawyers
This talk is geared to attorneys and legal professionals who need to be up to speed about "informed consent." You'll learn everything you need to know about this area of the law, including the history of hysterectomy informed consent law, as well as other areas of medical law that pertain to medical devices, hospital abuse, and hospital and emergency room billing. Vikki also reveals why MedWatch (a so-called safeguard against fraud) isn't working, and other little-known facts about medical litigation.

Vikki Hufnagel has been called on as a medical expert and investigative reporter for Fox News and MSNBC in the areas of women's health care and bioethics. She holds an MD degree from the University of California, San Francisco (1974), with  doctorates in Alternative and Naturopath Medicine. She's a student of bioethics, philosophy and psychology and a popular radio host and member of AFTRA.
